No Dough For Krispy Criminal

Authorities are looking for a suspect...

A recent attempted robbery resulted in the robber not getting away with any cash or merchandise, but he did leave something behind.

On Tuesday, Feb.10 just before 4 p.m. a man walked into the Krispy Kreme Doughnuts at 2251 Claribel Road in Riverbank, armed with a handgun and pepper spray.

According to authorities, there were no other patrons in the doughnut shop at the time of the incident. The suspect approached the counter and ordered a doughnut. As the clerk was getting the doughnut, the man produced a black handgun and demanded cash. The clerk advised the man that he did not have access to the cash. The subject then pulled out pepper spray and sprayed the cashier. The suspect then fled the business. A search of the business complex was conducted and the suspect was not found.

The clerk was treated by responding medical personnel for his injuries at the business. According to Krispy Kreme management, he has taken a few days off due to the traumatic experience.

The suspect is described as a white male adult with black bushy hair. He is five feet, nine inches tall, weighs about 140 pounds and was wearing a white T-shirt and cargo style pants.

Management from Krispy Kreme explained that they had several hours of clean up after the incident which included disposing of the product that may have been exposed to the pepper spray. The doors have since reopened for business and there is hope that the perpetrator will be captured.

Anyone with information on this investigation is asked to contact Detective Eric Torres at 209-863-7158.
