A relatively rare lunar event, the so-called ‘Pink’ full moon was observed earlier this month. The first full moon in April has become known as the Pink Moon, but it doesn’t look particularly pink. It’s named after pink flowers, called Wild Ground Phlox, which bloom in early spring and become widespread throughout the U.S. and Canada at this time of year. The pink moon occurred on April 10, though the moon appeared full through April 12. Other full moon names include Hunter Moon and Harvest Moon in the fall.
