Acoustic Performance Features 3 Doors Down At Gallo

Guests are invited to join 3 Doors Do...

Mississippi rock band 3 Doors Down will perform at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m., bringing the Central Valley a very intimate Acoustic Back Porch Jam. This tour is an acoustic translation of the band’s hits. They will play fan favorites like “Kryptonite,” “It’s Not My Time,” and “I Don’t Want to Know.” The tour began this month and will continue through February.

The band was formed in 1995 and since then they have continued to write, create, and entertain fans. Their sixth full length album, “Us and the Night” debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard Top 200 in 2016.

The VIP experience offered at Gallo will allow guests to sit on stage with the band during their acoustic performance along with a meet and greet and photo opportunity.

The five band members that make up 3 Doors Down are Brad Arnold, lead vocals/drums; Justin Biltonen, bass guitar; Chet Roberts, lead and rhythm guitar; Chris Henderson, lead and rhythm guitar; and Greg Upchurch on the drums. “Us and the Night” is their first studio experience together which has opened a new chapter for the group.

Elvis Monroe from Las Vegas will be opening for 3 Doors Down at the Gallo on Jan. 21.

“We have been to Modesto before,” said Henderson.  “What I remember about that show is that someone made me a vegan almond butter shake that morning when I got off the bus. It was one of the best things that I have ever had in my life.”

Henderson has been with the band since 1996 and has seen many changes in the music industry but explained how it has not changed them as a band.

“We just kind of let the times do what they do,” added Henderson. “We just do what we do and we kind of let it ride. We have made some conscious decisions in the past to try and change our sound; it never really works out. So we just kind of surrendered to the fact that we are who we are and we do what we do.”

Last year the band had a European tour that they really enjoyed and another highlight was performing at the Presidential inauguration.

“Playing in the inauguration was really cool, believe it or not, with all the flack that we got that was one of the best experiences that I have ever had in this band,” expressed Henderson. “It was really cool. It was about the country. The country asking us to make history was a no brainer.”

The band members write their own songs and, according to Henderson, the process is as complicated as you want to make it. He finds it to be a very easy process where they throw things out there and see where it may go.

The Back Porch Jam is a stripped down acoustic performance by 3 Doors Down of the songs that fans love.

“It is not a big rock show with flames and lights and loud speakers,” stated Henderson. “It is just us guys sitting on stage on stools playing acoustic guitars and playing the songs the way they are written. It is really cool and really fun.”
