Winter Homecoming 2018 is being celebrated this week at Riverbank High School and this year’s theme is “Come Home to Pixar.” Throughout the week, Riverbank High School students and staff will participate in a variety of activities along with spirit dress-up days, lunchtime activities, a dodgeball game, and the Homecoming basketball game on Friday where the King and Queen will be crowned.

All students are encouraged to show their spirit and support their fellow Bruins by dressing appropriately for the designated themed days. They will receive points for each student from each class that is dressed up each day which will be counted during second period. The winning class with the most points will be announced during halftime on Friday. The varsity Bruins will welcome in Hughson for the Homecoming contest.

To kick off the Winter Homecoming festivities, a Fashion Show was hosted during lunch on Friday and the announcement of the King and Queen Candidates was made. King candidates are Damien Lopez, Carlos Aguilera, Alex Solorio, Ryan Choeb and Ivan Vega; Queen candidates are Desiree Garnica, Aliza Teixeira, Melanie Hurtado, Jackie Serrato and Katie Larson.

The Toy Story theme spirit day was held on Monday and students were asked to wear western clothing or the colors yellow and red.

On Tuesday students wore colorful and traditional Day of the Dead costumes for the Coco-themed dress day. The lunch time activity planned was musical chairs with the music from Coco. In the evening students and staff battled it out at a dodgeball game.

Wednesday’s spirit day was inspired by the Pixar animated film Inside Out where students will be wearing a color that each emotion represented.

The lunchtime activity for Thursday, Feb. 8 is a bucket toss and a game where students will match the mascot to the University. The spirit dress day is Monsters University where students will be wearing their favorite college logo.

The festivities wrap up on Friday with all students encouraged to wear the school colors or their class colors which for freshmen is white, sophomores are black, juniors are silver or gray and seniors are maroon. The Winter Homecoming varsity boys basketball game will be held at the Fauria Gym at 7:30 p.m. where the King and Queen will be crowned.
