April 18, 1936 - Dec. 21, 2015

Don Phelps died on December 21, 2015 after a long illness. Born in Watsonville, CA, he lived most of his life in the Riverbank/Oakdale area, graduating from Oakdale High in 1954. An outstanding athlete, he excelled in football and baseball and continued his baseball career at Modesto Junior College. His real sports passion became golf and he was a member of the Oakdale Golf and Country Club for over 40 years. Though Don was a longtime District Manager for Douglas Oil Co., he finished out his working career with over 20 years of service at Hershey Chocolate Corporation of Oakdale.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mary Phelps; brothers Glenn and Fred Phelps, and sister, Dorothy Frazier. He is survived by his sister, Hazel Ash of Salinas, CA, a brother, Richard Phelps, of Washington, many nieces and nephews and loyal friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
