Riverbank High School boys basketball got preparations underway for its winter season this past weekend, with teams from all over the region coming to town for some serious scrimmaging action at the Ray Fauria Gymnasium.

A four-way scrimmage on Saturday, Nov. 18 was held between 10 a.m. and noon, with teams alternating between half-court sessions on the main floor, then playing on the cross-court set ups.

Playing in 10-minute, running-clock series, players rotated in and out with regularity, and Bruin teammates were able to work on both offense and defense skills through the morning.

Boys basketball was to be on the road both this week and next, against Sierra High School in Manteca on Tuesday, Nov. 21, then at Enochs in Modesto on Saturday, Nov. 25.

The Bruins will play in the Foundation Game on Monday, Nov. 27 at Johansen High School, before returning home for the Ron Peterson Tip Off Tournament which runs from Thursday, Nov. 30 through Saturday, Dec. 2. Both varsity (new gym) and JV (old gym) will play at 8 p.m. next Thursday, Nov. 30 open up tournament action.

The Lady Bruins varsity won’t start competition until next Monday, also playing in the Foundation Game at Johansen, while the JV girls will play in the Escalon tournament Nov. 29 through Dec. 1.
