Sign-Ups For Youth Basketball Scheduled

Basketball comes in many forms this season for coaches and players at Riverbank High School.

With Bruin practices and scrimmage games underway, plans are also being organized for a youth basketball league to play early next year.

Officials say sign-ups for the league, sponsored by RHS and staffed by current and past players and coaches, are set for one day only, next Thursday, Nov. 30, with registration scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ray Fauria Memorial Gymnasium on campus. They stress that the actual clinic sessions begin in January.

The Youth Basketball program is designed for students in first through eighth grades. The registration fee is $55 per child and the program includes a T-shirt and a basketball.

The schedule consists of two clinics and four games for a total of six weeks. The Youth League will run every Saturday, starting on Jan. 6, running through Feb. 10.

All games are scheduled to be played between 9 a.m. and noon. On clinic days, first and second graders will work from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m., while the third and fourth graders will take the court between 10:15 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Officials say that fifth through eighth graders will round out the day, from 11:15 a.m. to noon.

When the games start, they, too, will be held at RHS, between 9 a.m. and noon.

An advance copy of the league flyer and a permission slip are available online, at www.riverbank.k12.ca.us.
