Weather Cooperates For Preseason Spring Sports Action

Riverbank High School athletes were busy over the past week, preparing for the spring sports season with non-league games all week long.

The softball Lady Bruins were busy with the Rainbow Tournament through the week while baseball got bonus home games, making up for a rainout the week before.

The RHS home diamond was busy for a pre-season victory against Denair, 16-2, on Monday, March 5. After that, the week was devoted to the Rainbow Tournament, at Rainbow Fields.

In the tournament, they posted a 5-3 loss to Bret Harte of Angels Camp, then another 5-3 loss to Buhach Colony of Atwater. On Friday, March 9, they took a 5-3 victory from the Lady Lions of Big Valley Christian High School, then closed out the nightcap game against Orestimba, losing 5-1.

They also were to have a busy schedule this week, to play on Monday, March 12 hosting Ripon Christian. Weather permitting on Wednesday, March 14, they were to face Millennium High School in Tracy. Then Trans-Valley League play begins, with a game scheduled at Escalon on Thursday and at Hilmar on Friday, March 16.


Bruin Baseball

The varsity baseball team hosted Johansen of Modesto on Monday, March 5, handing them a 5-4 loss. Last Wednesday, they got to make up a non-league game that was rained out the week before, hosting Lathrop in a 1-1, 10-inning tie that was called by darkness. The Bruin fields are not lighted.

Monday, the Bruins were to travel to Central Valley High School and Wednesday, March 14 they were to go to Waterford. Friday, the varsity is to host Ripon Christian while the JV team is scheduled to welcome Big Valley.


Co-Ed Tennis

The Riverbank tennis teams hosted Ripon Christian'’ Knights on March 5, and will play Ripon High School at home this Friday. They also were able to host the rescheduled doubles tournament at the local courts on Friday, March 2.
