So you want to get away for a little while.

Maybe you have family in the Capital City, or you just want a change of pace when it comes to enjoying Independence Day and all of the fanfare that goes with it.

Fortunately, Sacramento has you covered with plenty of fun things going on suitable for the whole family.

Here are some things worth checking out if you’re going to be in the area for the Fourth of July holiday:

*SactoMoFo 4th of July – With a burgeoning mobile food scene, what better way to ring in the Fourth of July than with a wide assortment of culinary cuisine all in one central location? From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., some of Sacramento’s favorite food trucks will be at Garcia Bend Park along the Sacramento River offering up their delicious delicacies.

*Elk Grove Salute to the Red, White and Blue – Part of what makes Sacramento unique is the cluster of smaller communities around it, like Elk Grove, that each hold their own special festivals to maintain a unique community identity in the middle of one of California’s largest metropolitan areas. From 4 to 10 p.m. at Elk Grove Regional Park, a true family outing complete with a bike and stroller parade, live music, vendors, and a live National Anthem performance are all fitting lead-ins to the fireworks show at 9:30 p.m.

*Fourth on the Field at Raley Field – Baseball and Fourth of July go hand-in-hand, so what better way to celebrate it than on the diamond of the AAA-affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. While the Sacramento Rivercats are away, the stadium and the field are transformed into a playground for both kids – who can enjoy their own playground – and adults, who get to appreciate a club with alcoholic beverages, foosball, ping pong tables and dartboards. Old fashioned picnic games and food truck food will also be available to augment the existing live music, and fireworks will cap off the evening.
