Halloween at the zoo to Rocky Horror tradition

The Rocky Horror Picture is playing in Stockton at Thats Showbiz.

Micke Grove Zoo is the place to be on this weekend before Halloween.

But be on the lookout for miniature ghosts, goblins, and cartoon characters for this annual “HalloWILD,” which is a safe, family-friendly event for children of all ages on Saturday and Sunday.

Micke Grove is located at 11793 N. Micke Grove Rd. in Lodi.

From 5 to 8 p.m. on both days, “HalloWILD’’ will feature animal-themed games, crafts, trick-or-treat stations, and live animal presentations.

Special guests on Saturday include the 501st Legion Stormtroopers, belly dancers, and other familiar characters.

Cost is $5 for adults with those costume and children age 2 and under being admitted for free.

“Trick or Treat on the Mile”

Location: the Miracle Mile or Pacific Avenue

Date: Saturday, Oct. 31

Each year, business folks along Stockton’s Miracle Mile take part in a longstanding Halloween tradition.

The safe and family-fun “Trick or Treat on the Mile” is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 31, beginning at 3 p.m.

Youngsters from throughout the area dress up in their favorite costume, hitting the various merchants for candies and other goodies as a prelude to the neighborhood fun.

The annual event will stretch of Pacific Avenue in Stockton, from Alpine Street to Harding Way.

The free event will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, and will last until the candy runs out.

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show”

Location: That’s Showbiz, 1744 Pacific Ave.

Dates: Now through Oct. 31

For the second year in a row, That’s Showbiz will present its most popular productions featuring Brad and Janet as guests in the lab of Dr. Frankenfurter.  This is a take on the cult musical featuring all the familiar songs, with audience participation as part of the experience.  

Cost: $15 for children (age 12 and under) and students, $17.50 for seniors age 65 and older, and $20 for adults.

Freak Night at the Plaza

Location: The University Plaza Waterfront Hotel, 110 W. Fremont St.

Date:  Saturday, Oct. 24

Expect another strong turnout for the Freak Night Halloween Party.  The fifth year of this event kicks off at 9 p.m. with two dance areas coupled with hundreds of party goers age 21 and older dressed in costumes.  The Throwback Room will feature DJ Mike G. and DJ GS1 mixing party hits from music of the mid-1990s and early 2000s. The Haunted Ballroom will have DJ Henray, DJ Frank G. & DJ Tease from KWIN radio playing today’s hits.
