Summer Months Bring Increase In Blood Need

All that are able are encouraged to attend Univision’s Annual Blood Drive, which will be held on Friday, June 17 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Three Amigos Auto Center in Modesto. Univision is partnering with Three Amigos Auto Center and Delta Blood Bank for this event.

This event is more than just a blood drive; the Dia De Donar Sangre is a social event. Last year almost 300 people registered to donate, engage in fun entertainment and have some great food as part of the annual drive.

Right now, Delta Blood Bank has an emergency need for blood donors. Platelet donors and those with O negative, A negative and B positive blood types are especially needed.

Every two seconds, someone needs blood. There is no substitute and the volunteer donor is the only way blood will be available for you or a loved one should the need arise.

“In the summer months, it becomes more difficult to get donors into our sites,” explained Annie Havens, Delta Marketing Manager. “Vacations take their toll on the blood supply and we hope to remind everyone that blood is needed 365 days a year.”

Donating blood is an ideal way for agencies and organizations to join together and help save lives. A friend, family-member, or loved one, may need blood due to on-going treatments or an emergency situation. Giving blood now helps to ensure it is available when that need arises.
