Colorful and charming, the One-of-a-Kind Gift Show at the Calaveras County Arts Council gallery in San Andreas is chock-a-block with artworks that will lighten this rather dark holiday season. This show represents the work of 25 artists, with over 40 pieces in the gallery and online at the Arts Council’s website at www.calaverasarts.org.

“We need this show now more than ever,” said Kathy Mazzaferro, executive director. “The artwork we have is very uplifting. It’s vibrant. It’s happy. And we can use all the happy prompts we can find.”

Mazzaferro encourages people to buy locally and support small businesses, which includes artists.

“You’re not just supporting artists, you’re supporting your neighbors,” she said. “And when you buy from local artists, you’re going to buy something that no one else will ever have. It’s truly one of a kind. When this is all over, you’re not going to walk into someone else’s home and see the painting you bought. It’s all unique; it’s not made on conveyer belts.”

You can view the artwork online at www.calaverasarts.org in their online gallery, as well as purchase art online for pickup at the gallery. But there may also be opportunities to view the pieces in person. As long as it’s consistent with public health restrictions, you can visit the gallery in San Andreas by appointment only.

“I love the way that people feel when they walk in one-on-one in the gallery. I love that it’s unique, one of a kind,” Mazzaferro noted.
