Variety Of Entertainment Served Up In Newman

The West Side Theatre in Newman is gearing up for of variety of performances and activities to kick off the new year.

The 2017 Cosies are coming up on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017. Doors open at 6 p.m., the show starts at 7 p.m. Celebrating cosplayers and photographers from around Northern California. Tickets are $10, available online at brownpapertickets.com or call the theatre. The 2017 Cosies will be preceded by a free event, Cosi Con, all day. The fun starts at Westside Theatre at 10 a.m. and goes until 4 p.m. with vendors, artists, special guests, and panels. Panels for the Con include Cosplay etiquette and anti-bulllying, Mermaids, Living with character (an Author Panel), Cosplay 101, Gaming, Celebrity Q&A and local dance performances. Journey Revisited is a concert re-creation of the band Journey, set for Saturday, Jan. 14. Doors open at 7 p.m.; showtime at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $20 General Admission, $24 Reserved Section. Journey Revisited delivers fantastic harmonies and dynamic instrumentals, recreating note-for-note accurate renditions of Journey classics all in their
original keys.

Sourdough Slim’s Wild And Wooly Revue will bring outrageous humor and song in a show set for Saturday, Jan. 21. Doors open 7 p.m., with the show starting at 8 p.m.

An extravaganza featuring popular Gold Country old time music makers, Sourdough Slim and The Saddle Pals, Faux Renwah, and Robert Armstrong, this is a once-a-year opportunity to catch all these artists in a show together.

Rounding out the month of January will be Caravanserai, the Santana Tribute Band on Saturday, Jan. 28. Doors open at 7 p.m., showtime is at 8 p.m.

Caravanserai includes material from all eras of Santana’s 30-plus year history. From the 1969 hit Evil Ways to monster hit Smooth, as well as hits from Santana’s most recent CD release All That I Am, Caravanserai performs music to satisfy Santana fans young and old.
