Alda Yos is a big fan of Modesto’s Vintage Faire Mall.

In particular, she’s fond of Forever 21, which is one of the mall’s anchors and features three levels – the 154,518-square-foot space was once occupied by Gottschalks – making it one of the largest stores in the chain.

Located at the intersection of Sisk Road, Dale Road and Standiford Avenue just off Highway 99, this two-story mall is also anchored by JC Penney, Macy’s Men’s & Home (formerly Weinstocks), Macy’s Women’s & Children’s, and Sears.

For Yos, 23, Vintage Faire Mall has stores that appeal to her demographics. She listed H&M, G by Guess, Aeropostale, American Eagle Outfitters, Pac Sun, Tilly’s, and Ambercrombie & Fitch, to name a few.

This two-story structure has a combined retail space of slightly over 1 million square feet and has been around since the late 1970s.

A few changes took place since then.

Vintage Faire owners, the Macerich Company, in 2001, invested $10 million for extensive renovation. Work here included new escalators, railings and carpet on the second floor coupled with new tiles on the first floor.

A wing on the second floor was also converted into a food court. Dining options include Carl’s Jr., Starbucks, Hot Dog on a Stick, and Panda Express.

The mall expanded by 2008 with an outdoor “lifestyle center.”

This expansion became known as “The Village at Vintage Faire Mall,” featuring the likes of the Apple Store, Coach, Chico’s, Charming Charlie, Bebe, Sephora, and the Men’s Wearhouse.

With it came more dining options – BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Buffalo Wild Wings.

The Vintage Faire has several events coming up, including:

·         Fashion Friday – This back-to-school occasion is going on every Friday through Sept. 30 at Macy’s with one lucky shopper having a chance to win a $250 shopping spree.

·         Backpack headquarters – A selection of 25 different JanSport-style back packs are available in Center Court for only $25 from now until Aug. 20.

·         Young at Heart S.T.E.P.S. – This 12-week walking challenge is offered from now through Oct. 24. Registration is taking place at the Healthy Aging Booth from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Log on to www.healthyagingassociation.org.
