Visiting Author Series Hosts Cartoonist Navarro

The Modesto Junior College Foundation and Literature and Language Arts Visiting Authors Series presents an Evening with Rafael Navarro, cartoonist and Daytime Emmy Award winner, on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. in Forum 110 on East Campus, 435 College Ave., Modesto.

Navarro will give a talk and demonstration, followed by a question and answer session and book signing. The event is free, open to the public and wheelchair accessible. Campus parking is $2 without a permit.

Classically trained in illustration and fine art, Navarro works as a storyboard artist/illustrator for a variety of major studios including Warner Brothers, Nickelodeon, Sony and Marvel Entertainment. His work includes The Batman, Mucha Lucha, Justice League, Tutenstein, Stripperella, Marvel Super Squad, Wacky Races, Scooby Doo, Rugrats, and Lego’s Hero Factory, among others.

Navarro’s Xeric Award Winning comic, Sonambulo (Tell Him Your Dreams!) has been published internationally. His ongoing series, Gun A’ Blazin’ co-created with Mike Wellman, is a science fiction western under consideration for a film adaptation.
