Every ball that needed to bounce the Riverbank Lady Bruins volleyball team's way did when the varsity girls battled to a 3-2 victory over the Hughson Huskies in the Trans-Valley League season opener.

Riverbank slipped to the Huskies 23-25 in the first game, but rebounded by winning three of the next four to open league play with a morale boosting come-from-behind victory. Riverbank put forth a tremendous effort in battling the Huskies, who did not want to go quietly, keeping the score within seven points in three of the final four games.

The Lady Bruins got everything they could get out of senior setter Irene Castillo. Castillo flourished in each of her minutes on the court, distributing the ball with complete accuracy to outside hitters Alyssa Adams and Erikka Garza. Riverbank's success over the grueling five-game match was a testament to how well the team opened TVL play.

"It was a great match," Riverbank head coach Lisa Mila said. "Both teams were equally matched; we just played our game and never worried about what Hughson was doing."

The Bruins did not disappoint any of those in attendance at the squad's TVL home opener, displaying a quality brand of volleyball that has the Lady Bruins racing on every inch of the court.
