Janet and Tawny of J&K Salon in Oakdale, along with their friend Tammie, have been inspired to join the “Team in Training” for the Inaugural Nike Women’s Marathon Half, in honor of Tammie’s 3-year-old nephew Jack. The youngster has been battling T-Cell Lymphoma for over a year.

The Inaugural Nike Women’s Marathon Half is scheduled to take place in Washington DC on April 28, 2013, and the team’s goal is to raise money to take part in this event, while also raising money and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society funds go toward research, treatment, education and community service programs for leukemia and other blood cancers.

To participate in the event, as a team the group needs to raise $9,600. If you would like to help, donations can be made online at http://pages.teamintraining.org/sac/nikewhlf13/jackdanger. For additional information, visit www.teamintraining.com, or call J&K Salon at 847-4408. The local salon is at 135 S. Fifth Ave., Oakdale, and they can also fill you in on the details if you stop by.

Money and awareness raised through this inaugural event will help give Jack and many others like him a much brighter future.
