The street banners are up, the booth positions are marked in chalk - or soon will be - and everyone is praying the rain will be over by the weekend.

Riverbank's 35th Cheese and Wine Exposition is due to bring thousands of visitors to town this weekend for the festival and street fair that will stretch down Santa Fe from Second to Seventh streets. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9.

Organized by Riverbank Rotary Club, the festival will offer more than 200 vendor booths including many with food and drink, beer and microbrew sites, two live music stages with rock, country and local bands, slides, rides and a petting zoo for the children and the highlight of the event, cheese sampling and sales and wine tasting at the Community Center.

Admission to the festival is free. Wine tasting tickets will cost $30 in advance and $35 at the door. For more information visit the website www.RiverbankCheeseAndWine.org.
