Area Agency On Aging Public (Virtual) Meeting
sc

The Area Agency on Aging division of the Department of Aging and Veterans Services will host a public meeting to discuss the Area Plan for 2020-2024. The agency is required by law to complete an Area Plan detailing how taxpayer money will be spent for the next four years in order to support older adults in the community.

The Older Americans Act provides funds for a variety of assistance programs for older adults, caregivers, and persons with disabilities continue to live and thrive in every community. Funds are used to provide meals, housekeeping services, disease prevention, legal assistance, respite for caregivers, information, assistance with Medicare, advocacy for older adults in care facilities, and elder abuse prevention.

The Area Plan outlines unique aspects of Stanislaus County, the Area Agency on Aging, and the needs of the older population of the County.  Included are the ways the Area Agency on Aging proposes to meet the needs through collaboration with other County agencies and local service providers.

A Virtual Public Hearing will take place Monday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m.

Anyone interested in joining the meeting should contact the Area Agency on Aging: Linda Lowe, 209-525-4612 or lowel@stancounty.com and make their request no later than Friday, Oct. 9, 2020.

A current copy of the Area Plan was developed earlier this year. It can be viewed at http://www.agingservices.info/pdf/area-plan.pdf.
