Early Thursday morning, Feb. 14, Riverbank High School hosted an assembly in the Ray Fauria Gym recognizing 66 students that achieved perfect attendance for the first semester. Families were asked to join in the celebration as Vice Principal Dalila Hernandez stated during the presentation that they should be congratulated as well for doing their part in getting their kids to school. This was the first time they have had an assembly for perfect attendance. The school has other incentives for students to attend school like gift cards for a number of places including Jamba Juice and Starbucks for the students that have perfect attendance each month.

The Riverbank High School band led by band instructor Joey Aguilar entertained the guests as they made their way into the gym.

Hernandez was the master of ceremonies which she led in both English and Spanish along with Attendance Secretary Donna Bigelow, who presented the certificate to the student, as she shook their hand and congratulated them.

Although the assembly was short, Hernandez explained to the audience how important it is for students to attend school each day and what an accomplishment it is for them to have perfect attendance for the past 18 weeks. She also made sure to give the parents a round of applause for the efforts they made. The students honored were in all grades.

Principal Dr. Sean Richey and Vice Principal Rebecca Evans were in attendance as well as students, parents and family members. Both were elated to see parents and family members in the stands and that so many students have perfect attendance.

With the encouragement by Hernandez to keep up the good work attending school daily and an incentive to continue their perfect attendance for the remainder of the year with a prize that would be worth their while, the assembly ended with applause and smiles.

There were refreshments in the lobby following the assembly.

Not only did the students receive certificates of achievement for good attendance but also a free meal from either Farmer Boys or Round Table.
