Authorities Arrest One In Riverbank Homicide

A Modesto man was killed and a Riverbank man arrested in connection with a shooting in Riverbank on May 16.

At about 10:20 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, Riverbank Police Services Deputies and Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 5900 block of Terminal Avenue in the city of Riverbank for a report of a subject shot. Deputies responded to the scene along with medical personnel. They located an adult male victim who was transported to a local hospital for treatment. At the hospital, despite life saving measures, the victim was pronounced deceased.

Through their investigation deputies discovered that the crime scene was located in the 3600 Block of Castlepark Drive in Riverbank. The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Crimes Against Persons Team was activated and responded to the scene to investigate. The victim was identified as Marvin Saliza, 25, of Modesto. The suspect, Jeffery Guy, 26, of Riverbank was contacted during the investigation and was arrested and charged with homicide. He was being held in the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Public Safety Center without bail pending further court action

Authorities said further information regarding cause of death would be available after an autopsy and the investigation into the shooting was continuing.
