Riverbank High School administration, staff and community members gathered together with families, friends and graduating seniors on May 17 to acknowledge the recognition they are receiving at the end of the school year.

Presented at an Honors and Awards event at the Ray Fauria Memorial Gymnasium, the program listed 11 different awards, some from coach and Athletic Director Juan Harvey, some from RHS Principal Greg Diaz.

Diaz awarded Leticia Diaz, no relation, he noted, for Exceptional Effort, as well as presenting 10 students with the Principal’s Scholastic Achievement recognition, and four students with the California Scholastic Federation (CSF) Award. He also named the class Salutatorian, Alyssa Perez and Valedictorian, Jordan Velasco.

Harvey recognized the Coaches Athletic Service award winners, Miguel Garcia and Mia Vidal Vigil, along with Outstanding Senior Athletes Livi Fernandez and Diego Felix. He also named the Trans-Valley League Scholar Athlete, Dayanara Ruvalcaba.

Under Scholarships, the program listed 22 different awards, some from organizations, some memorial awards recognizing former students, alumni or administrators. Some went to just one student, others went to a number of the seniors. And several received more than one award.

After the ceremonies, refreshments were served in the lobby of the gym.
