Bob Eden of Otter Bob Productions, the 2010 Riverbank Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year, will join singers Luna J. and Tara Tinsley in providing entertainment at the Beyond Earth Day celebration this coming Saturday.

Two magicians, Jonathan Lopez and Donny Crandell, will add their illusions and sleight of hand tricks to the show, said City Human Services Specialist Norma Torres-Manriquez.

The Beyond Earth Day event will run from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 10 at Jacob Myers Park.

Beyond Earth Day was created in 2006 and first held in Galaxy Theatre's parking lot to emphasize the need for everybody to contribute to a clean and healthy environment.

Put together by the efforts of local citizens, the show encourages all to promote the wellbeing of the planet, the preservation of natural resources and the setting up of recycling programs.

This year like the last, Pacific Gas & Electric, American Telephone & Telegraph and Modesto Irrigation District are expected at the event showing their latest developments in technology.

There will be an e-waste disposal site for discarded electronic items such as old computers and VCRs, information booths on energy conservation and ground water protection and a variety of family entertainment.

Activities in past years have offered children the chance to carry off a tree seedling in a pot to nurture and add to family gardens. The Greater Modesto Tree Foundation will be there again this time.

Other booths slated include Goodwill Industries, Acro Electric, University of California at Davis Agricultural Extension, START, Riverbank Oakdale Transit Authority, Gilton Solid Waste Disposal, Stanislaus Elder Abuse Prevention Alliance, Morris Nurseries, Honey Farm, Dutch Hollow Farms, Rodin Farms and a water tasting booth run by the City of Riverbank.

Volunteer and support groups include the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department, Riverbank High's Step by Step program, RHS Interact Club, RHS Digital Connectors and Stanislaus State University Eco-Warriors Club.
