Pending the outcome of further contract negotiations, members of the Riverbank Unified School District have named interim District Superintendent Dr. Daryl Camp to the post on a permanent basis.

The action came during closed session at the board's Tuesday, Nov. 6 meeting and was reported on later in an announcement by the district.

"Dr. Camp looks forward to working with all members of the Riverbank USD (Unified School District) community to prepare students for college and career opportunities," Superintendent's Secretary Darlene Ribeiro noted in a short press release.

Contract negotiations with Dr. Camp are ongoing as the two sides work to reach agreement on a deal to keep the superintendent on board with the district.

In other action at the Nov. 6 session, the board approved a trip for the RHS cross country team to participate in a race in Hawaii on Sept. 14, 2013 and also approved Riverbank High School's AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) class college field trip to Southern California.

Board members were updated on items including negotiations with the Riverbank Teachers Association and advised of returning coaches at Riverbank High School and Cardozo Middle School for the 2012-2013 school year.

The board cancelled its meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 20 and set the next meeting for Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the district board room.
