This past weekend marked the annual celebration of music as four Riverbank High musicians performed as part of the 2019 Stanislaus County Music Education Association Honor Band.

The concert was held on the campus of Modesto Junior College on Saturday, Jan. 26 in the Performing Arts Center.

RHS band members performing included Jenise Perryman, who was in her fourth appearance there, on trombone. Three fellow Bruin band members included Dolores Navarro, on flute; Lizbeth Ramos, on alto saxophone; and Brenden Hetzler, on clarinet, all in their first year with the Honor Band.

According to RHS band teacher Joey Aguilar, the program included four pieces for the high school level band: A Festival Prelude, by Alfred Reed, Themes from “Green Bushes,” by Percy Aldridge Grainger, arranged by Larry D. Daehn, Requiem, by David Manslanka, and Strange Humors, by John Mackey.

Aguilar said that this was the first time that Riverbank High had placed four musicians in the Honor Band.

Come Monday, however, they were back to work, practicing for the spring concert coming up in a few months on the RHS Bruin Band calendar.
