CAMERA CREW

An installation crew continued to work over the weekend, putting up equipment on light poles on Riverbank streets. Here, on Saturday afternoon, a surveillance camera is being installed atop a pole on Oakdale Road, beside the entrance to O’Brien’s Supermarket. A crew spokesman said they were working on the weekend because there is less traffic on city streets. The company, based in Ceres, said the cameras can track license plates and suspicious or illegal activity from up to a mile away, sending the video to a central location as well as storing it in the ‘cloud’. According to city officials, the information can also help them acquire traffic data for future road planning.
