Staff at Cardozo Middle School took advantage of National Boss’s Day this past Friday to show their appreciation for Principal Kevin Bizzini and Assistant Principal Eduina Azevedo. The Principal’s Secretary Vanessa Lopez expressed that the entire staff united to organize the celebration that included cards, gifts, and tasty treats.

“Mr. Bizzini was overwhelmed with appreciation for all the love he was showered with,” noted Lopez. “Throughout the day, the staff would stop by his office and simply thank him for the great work he is doing here at CMS.”

There were several staff members with fun face cutout paddles of the Principal that even popped up in the background of the digital learning lessons which Lopez shared that the students were delighted to see.

There was a sign posted up with the pastries to Bizzini and Azevedo that read, “Wishing you a Happy Boss’s Day, with great appreciation for everything you do at CMS. Thank you for always challenging us to improve and grow. Your leadership and mentorship have meant a lot in this challenging year. Once a year isn’t enough to express how much our team appreciates you every day.”

According to nationaltoday.com, National Boss’s Day was registered as a holiday with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 1958 by Patricia Bays Haroski to honor her father that was also her employer. The idea she had was to create the holiday to improve office relationships between supervisors and their employees as well as recognize the boss’s hard work. In 1962 the day became an official holiday after Governor Otto Kerner supported Haroski’s registration for Oct. 16 as this day was her father’s birthday.
