There isn’t any rain in the forecast, but temperatures will definitely be on the chilly side as residents of Riverbank get ready to officially welcome in the holiday season.
Saturday, Dec. 13 will feature the annual Christmas parade, downtown craft fair, holiday music, visits with Santa Claus and more.
Sign-ups have wrapped up for the parade, which is being hosted for the 56th time this year.
The Craft Fair and booths downtown will open up at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13 and remain open through 8 p.m., offering a variety of wares, including some for holiday gift-giving, along with food and beverages.
The city’s festive ‘California Christmas’ parade will line up at 4:30 p.m. and step off at 5:30 p.m., with entries expected to include everything from school groups, churches, non-profits and business floats, motorcycle groups, specialty groups, vintage automobiles, some equestrian units and novelty entries.
Lights are required on all entries and each vehicle and float is asked to be decorated with as many lights as possible.
Temperatures will stay primarily in the 40s so all those attending the event are urged to bundle up for winter weather.
The holiday parade route typically runs from the Community Center, down Santa Fe Street to Second Street, then back across Second to Stanislaus Street and then returns to the Community Center Park.
Following the parade, the crowd convenes at Plaza del Rio Park in the heart of downtown for the traditional holiday tree lighting, where kids have the chance to visit with Santa and have their picture taken with him.
Festivities are being coordinated through the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.
