Friday, March 1 marked the beginning of the application period for permits to sell fireworks this summer. The period closes on April 1.
New laws affecting sales of fireworks by nonprofit organizations in the City of Riverbank went into effect on Jan. 12, this year, when the city council changed the applicable ordinances.
The new rules provide for the imposition of local penalties for any violation of sales or use of illegal fireworks in town. The code includes revisions to the Fireworks Sale and Discharge section, pertaining to dates, times and locations of ‘Safe and Sane’ fireworks sales, and added a new section on Fireworks Regulations and Enforcement that authorizes administrative citations for illegal possession, use, storage, sale and discharge of legal fireworks during unpermitted times.
Applications for the permits will be available at the City Clerk’s office, 6707 Third St., Suite A, in downtown Riverbank.
Additional information can be obtained by emailing the City Clerk at cityclerk@riverbank.org, or visiting the front page of the city’s web site at www.riverbank.org.
The deadline for filing the application is 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2019.
