The new Dog Park in Jacob Myers Park opened for use this past Monday, Dec. 16. The planned Grand Opening the week before was delayed, but officials were able to go ahead and open the park this week. There was no ribbon cutting ceremony, but officials said there will be a celebration scheduled some time soon, though it will be after the holidays.

The dog park is open the same hours as the trail at Jacob Myers Park and will be closed on Wednesdays for mowing and maintenance, said Parks and Recreation Department Director Sue Fitzpatrick.

Rainy weather could have an impact on the regular hours of operation as the winter season progresses; signs to alert residents to the closure due to weather are expected to be posted near the parking lot.

During business hours, patrons can also call the Parks and Recreation office, 863-7150, when the weather looks iffy to find out the status of the park.
