The deputies with Riverbank Police Services have been patrolling the streets in Riverbank in an effort to keep the community safe. These are a few of the calls that have been keeping them busy toward the end of November.
During the day shift on Nov. 26, deputies responded to a family fight on Fern Court. They determined that a subject identified as Cuitlahuac Saldana, 31, held a knife to a woman’s throat at the residence. The reporting party tackled Saldana and seized the knife from his hands. However, Saldana regained possession of the knife and then fled the area. Deputies located the suspect later on and arrested and booked Saldana on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Later that night during the graveyard shift a deputy conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation on Claus Road. Manuel Ruiz, 21, was contacted and it was determined there was a no bail warrant for his arrest. During the arrest he was found to be in possession of cocaine, methamphetamine, Xanax pills, a digital scale, packaging materials, and hundreds of dollars in cash. Ruiz was booked for multiple crimes including possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of narcotics for sale, and for warrants.
In another case, a deputy responded to Kohl’s regarding a person who was wearing an ankle monitor and acting suspiciously during the day shift on Nov. 25. He found the subject, Patrick Gomez, 33, who then reached into his pocket and attempted to discard a bag of methamphetamines. Gomez was detained and a fixed blade knife was found that was concealed on him. He also had a homemade window punch on him which authorities said is typically used for burglaries. Gomez was booked for the concealed knife, possession of methamphetamines, a probation violation, trespassing and possession of burglary tools.
On the same day, a deputy responded to Ulta Beauty for a report of a male shoplifting items. A 21-year-old man was contacted as he walked out of the store. He resisted arrest while he was detained. The subject had to be forced into handcuffs and refused to identify himself. He was booked for resisting/obstructing/delaying.
The Friday after Thanksgiving during the day shift while at Kohl’s on an unrelated matter, a deputy saw a subject walk into a dressing room with property. When the man emerged he was attempting to conceal the property. The deputy confronted the 29-year-old man outside the store and recovered the stolen property. The man was booked for the shoplifting incident and on an unrelated probation charge.
On Monday, Nov. 20 a deputy attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Eighth and Iowa for a vehicle code violation. The driver initially failed to yield but eventually pulled to the side of the roadway. The driver then drove off a second time and a pursuit began. During the pursuit, the deputy saw the driver throw an object out of the passenger window. After the pursuit ended in the 2600 block of Iowa, the driver was identified as Adolio Garcia, 38. Deputies checked the area where Garcia had earlier thrown the object and located a bag of methamphetamine and a loaded .22 caliber handgun. A records check on the handgun revealed it was stolen out of Modesto. Garcia was booked for violation of probation, enhancement for committing a crime while on bail, ex-felon with a firearm, loaded firearm in public, evading, possession of methamphetamine and several other charges.
