Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 3-30-22

Fire Academy participants got some training opportunities this past week, including spending some time in Oakdale. Modesto Fire Department Photo

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, March 22 through Monday, March 28. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, MARCH 28

No time listed – Engine-27 assisted with fire academy.

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 27

6:02 p.m. – E-27, WT-27, E-23, WT-23, GR-26, WT-21, and B-5 responded to a large compost fire at the intersection of Langworth Road and Claribel Road. B-5 reported contained but extensive mop up.

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 24

2 p.m. – E29, E28 and BC5 responded to a vehicle fire in Knights Ferry on Sonora Road. Units arrived to find a garbage truck on fire. Crews had to use special tools to make access into the truck hopper to extinguish the fire.

 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23

Members from Modesto, Turlock and Consolidated attended the last day of a three day Captains Academy. The academy closed out the three days with review of various types of incidents and call types and the role of the company officer. All the participants were issued a Captains Task Book for reference as they continue down the road of being a successful company officer.

TUESDAY, MARCH 22

Members from Modesto, Turlock and Consolidated attended the second day of a three day Captains Academy. The academy is teaching various components the roles and responsibilities of a company officer. Topics include: leadership and management, employee counseling, fireground tactics and strategy and several other topics throughout the three days.

Crews continue to rotate through orientation training of the new Engine 29.
