Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 5.12.21

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, May 4 through Monday, May 10. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

 

MONDAY, MAY 10

12:58 a.m. – Modesto Fire Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District responded to the 4000 block of McGee Avenue for a barn fire. On scene the crews found a large amount of hay in a pole barn on fire. A front end loader that was nearby was immediately threatened. The property owner was able to move it out of the way before the damage made it inoperable. Additional equipment was brought in to assist with dispersing the hay so it could be extinguished. The Stanislaus County FIU is investigating the cause of the fire.

The Engineer Academy was launched today for newly promoted Engineers.

Weekly apparatus and equipment checks were completed.

 

SUNDAY, MAY 9

2 p.m. – Engines 27, 28, 29, Battalion Chief 5 responded to a vehicle accident, Highway 108 and Wamble east of Oakdale. Three patients were transported by two ambulances. CHP investigating.

 

SATURDAY, MAY 8

Probationary Firefighter training was conducted at the RFTC.

10:54 a.m. – Engine 28 while clearing a vehicle accident at North Maag Avenue and East F Street, viewed a boat on fire at the gas station by the pumps. The boat owner pulled the boat away from the pumps and into the open parking lot and E28 extinguished the fire with no damage to the gas pumps or the tow vehicle.

 

FRIDAY, MAY 7

Crews trained with their probationary firefighters.

Modesto Battalion 5, Engine 28 and Engine 29 met with Cal Fire for training at Station 29 in Knights Ferry. Crews reviewed equipment and capabilities, SRA fire expectations for local government crews and made plans for upcoming hands on training.

 

THURSDAY, MAY 6

Crews trained on wildland firefighting topics and refresher training today in preparation for the upcoming wildland fire season.

The East Stanislaus Fire Safe Council hosted a community meeting last night in the Knights Ferry Community Center. The Modesto Fire Department is a partner in this effort.

 

WEDNESDAY, MAY 5

MCS units responded to a reported gas leak inside the hotel in Oakdale. Crews checked the interior of the hotel with a gas monitor and were unable to locate a source.

Modesto Fire Department and Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District responded to a motorcycle accident at Terminal Road and Claribel Road. The driver was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. CHP is investigating.

Modesto Fire Department and Cal Fire responded to a vehicle accident at Highway 4 and the Calaveras County line. Two vehicles were involved. One occupant was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
