Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 8-31-22

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Aug. 23 through Monday, Aug. 29. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

SUNDAY, AUG. 28

9:54 a.m. – E28, E9, Quint 22, Grass 26, Brush 1 and Battalion 5 responded for a vegetation fire in a field at Sylvan and Claus Road. The fire temporarily threatened buildings, but crews quickly stretched lines around the fire and eliminated any threat. Crews mopped up for an hour.

4:51 p.m. – Engines 28, 27, 29 responded for the report of a vehicle accident area of Highway 4 and Milton Road. Enroute we were updated that the car was fully involved. CalFire was notified and they sent a full vegetation response. On scene we had a fully involved car with one patient with major injuries and a 10-acre grass fire with a structure threat. E28 and 27 packaged the patient for transport by air ambulance. Engine 29 performed structure protection. When CalFire arrived, they handled the vegetation fire. The fire was stopped at 20 acres with no damage to any buildings.

SATURDAY, AUG. 27

11:15 a.m. – Engines 27, 28, Quint 22 and Battalion 5 were dispatched to a potential structure fire on Willowood. Crews arrived to find an extinguished vegetation fire. Crews ensured no extension and were released.

2:35 p.m. – Engines 28, 29 and Battalion 5 responded to Orange Blossom Road for a report of multiple people shot while river rafting. Sheriff’s made contact with two large groups and found two subjects with minor injuries.

7:31 p.m. – E28, E29 and Battalion 5 responded to an accident Highway 4 between Dunton Road and the county line. CalFire E4462 was requested to assist due to their proximity to the incident. Crews arrived with two vehicles involved. One subject was treated and transported.

No time listed – E27, E28, E29 and Battalion 5 were dispatched to Highway 108 and Wamble Road for an overturned vehicle down the embankment. Upon arrival, one vehicle was located down the embankment. Crews assisted with the treatment of one patient. Once the patient was transported by ambulance to a local medical facility, crews assisted CHP with cleaning up the roadway.

FRIDAY, AUG. 26

1:37 p.m. – Modesto E28, T5, Stanislaus E26 and BC2 responded to a potential structure fire in the 1500 block of West F Street, Oakdale. Crews arrived with no visible fire or smoke. After investigating the interior for the cause, they were able to locate smoldering phone equipment. Crews assisted with smoke removal and ensured no extension.

1:50 p.m. – E26, E9 and BC2 responded to a motor vehicle accident at Mesa and Langworth. On arrival two vehicles were found to be involved, there was one minor injury.

5:30 p.m. – E7, SQ11, BC2 were dispatched to an accident at Claribel and Oakdale. On arrival two vehicles were found with all occupants refusing treatment.

THURSDAY, AUG. 25

Crews rotated through Station 17 for EMS training on various medical skills.

BC5 attended the Knights Ferry MAC meeting.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 24

8:16 p.m. – MST units responded to an unattended burn pile on Langworth Road. MST units reported the burn pile was no threat to any structures and was surrounded by orchards.
