With a three day weekend like the past Memorial Day weekend and warmer weather, more people are heading out to enjoy the outdoors. Riverbank Police Services are on patrol and have been kept busy over the past couple of weeks, answering a variety of calls.
This past Saturday, June 3 at around 11:20 p.m., deputies were called out to a reported armed robbery at the Pizza Hut on Patterson Road. An unknown male suspect entered the store armed with a knife and handgun. He demanded cash and fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries and the incident is currently under investigation.
On Monday, May 29 there was another armed robbery reported around 10 p.m. on California Avenue. There were no injuries and RPS would not release any other information due to it being an active investigation.
Unknown suspects used a BB gun to shoot out the back window of a victim’s 2005 Chevy Colorado truck and shot a hole in the second story bedroom window in a felony vandalism that occurred on Corral Way around 6:30 p.m. on May 29.
During the afternoon on May 29 a residential burglary was reported on Leo Court where several tools were stolen from a residence while the homeowner was away.
A grand theft occurred on Claribel Road at approximately 10:35 p.m. on May 27 that involved the arrest of Bonnie Faye Michelle Palmer, 32, for grand theft, falsely identifying herself to a peace officer and for five warrants out of Tuolumne County. Authorities said the incident occurred at the Target department store in Riverbank where Palmer stole over $2,100 in merchandise.
On Saturday, May 27 at about 1:46 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the area of Patterson and Eighth Street regarding a traffic collision where a Chevy Tahoe drove through a stop sign and collided with a another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle complained about back and neck pain and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. A DUI investigation was conducted on the driver and police subsequently arrested Roger Rowe, 49, from Oakdale for driving while under the influence and causing bodily injury, violation of probation, and a Ceres warrant.
