Two Deaths In City Investigated By Cops

The ominous start to the month of August for Riverbank Police Services included two separate fatalities.

On Saturday, Aug. 1 the body of a Riverbank man identified as Nick Jenkins, 37, was located in the Stanislaus River in the 6900 block of Arrowwood Drive in Riverbank. The body was discovered by a passing kayaker who called authorities. The Sheriff's Department Dive team along with fire personnel assisted in the recovery of the body. Detectives were called to the scene to investigate. The cause of death is pending the autopsy results.

Deputies were also dispatched to a medical aid call in the 2500 block of Rivercove Drive in Riverbank on Saturday, Aug. 1 where the Fire Department was already on scene. A 58-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital where she subsequently died. The cause of death is pending autopsy results.

Detectives were called to the scene and officials said they are investigating this incident as a possible suspicious death.
