It was a sold out affair, Saturday, Feb. 28 as residents from throughout the area gathered in Oakdale for the second Charlotte’s Cure Dinner. An event hosted to raise money for four-year-old Charlotte Schmitt and her family as they navigate her life with Ataxia Telangiectasia (A-T), a rare, neurodegenerative genetic condition that is caused by mutations in the ataxia telangiectasia mutated gene.

The night opened up with local favorite, musician Alex Lucero, performing during cocktail hour and dinner. Dinner was prepared by Chef John Fisher of Reata on Third and served to the guests by the Oakdale Lions Club.

Longtime Auctioneer Travis Johnson led the crowd of 400 to open their wallets and show their support through purchase of live auction items – including baked goods – and experiences, while there were also silent auction items, as well as raffles.

The evening ended with a floor filled with guests enjoying some dancing with guest of honor Charlotte Schmitt.
