Deputies Handle Disturbance, Drug Possession Cases

Riverbank Police Services had a busy week with several calls for service last week which led to a number of arrests.

During the evening on Sunday, Aug. 1, deputies were dispatched to a disturbance incident near Morrill Road and Carnwood Drive. A teenaged male was arrested in connection with the case.

Late in the evening on Friday, July 30, deputies stopped a 25-year-old driver for vehicle code violations in the 2700 block of Sierra Street. The subject was on probation and searchable for drugs, a methamphetamine pipe and Xanax was found on his person. He was arrested for the drug and probation violations.

On Thursday, July 29 at approximately 7 a.m., a woman approached deputies in the Riverbank Police Department parking lot to report a stolen vehicle. After a brief investigation it was determined her vehicle had been parked illegally and towed by a private party. In the process of this investigation, the woman was found to have active outstanding warrants for her arrest. When deputies attempted to place her in handcuffs, she kicked her shoes off and attempted to flee through the department parking lot. Deputies immediately apprehended her and she was arrested for fleeing and the active warrants without further incident.

Deputies were dispatched to a report of a disturbance on Wednesday, July 28 at approximately 7 p.m. They spoke to the victim who stated his ex-girlfriend hit him with a stick and hit his car with the same stick causing damage. Deputies spoke with the suspect via phone but said she became uncooperative on the phone and hung up on them; she is being sought in connection with the case.

Just after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies made a traffic stop for multiple violations. Upon contact with the driver, he was found to have an active, outstanding warrant for his arrest. Deputies located methamphetamine in his vehicle. He was arrested for the warrant, drug possession and several CVC violations.

During the morning hours on Monday, July 26, deputies responded to the 2300 block of Patterson Road for an attempted assault. A 27-year-old man was arrested after he threatened the victim with a stick.

Later in the morning on Monday, detectives conducted a follow up in the 5900 block of Chancellor Way in attempt to locate a 34-year-old man who was wanted for stealing security cameras from a local business. Detectives had been to the residence several times in an attempt to locate the suspect, each time his father was uncooperative with detectives. While at the residence on Monday, deputies said the father attempted to hide his son; both were arrested, the son on a warrant and the father for harboring a felon.

During the late afternoon on Monday, deputies saw a subject they identified as George Saldivar, 44, in the 3400 block of Santa Fe Street. Saldivar is on parole and is currently wanted for violation of parole and a felony warrant out of Oakdale. In addition, deputies had information Saldivar was currently armed with a handgun. As soon as Saldivar saw deputies, he fled on foot through backyards of the 3400 block of Santa Fe Street. Several deputies assisted along with the Sheriff’s Air Support Unit. Saldivar was found hiding in a nearby backyard. He was arrested without further incident and was found to have a loaded handgun magazine on his person.

Deputies investigated a reported arson where debris in a pickup truck was set on fire in the 3100 block Atchison Street during the afternoon on Monday. A 33-year-old man was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident and police are seeking another suspect.
