The 43 members of the graduating class of 2014 from Adelante High School assembled before friends, family, teachers, administration, staff, board members and District Superintendent Dr. Daryl Camp to receive their diplomas Wednesday evening, May 21, at the RHS gymnasium.

Following the processional march, Principal Karen Young welcomed those attending. The RHS Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps cadets presented the colors, after which the National Anthem was played. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Associated Student Body President Alex Osborne.

Young introduced the class, then Valedictorian Marion Carmona and Salutatorian Jordan Layton. Carmona spoke of the accomplishments the class members had made and their plans for the future.

Teacher Kristi Santos recounted some of the hard work that had resulted in students reaching the goal of graduation exercises. Also on hand were Teacher in Charge Kathy Briggs and instructors Elizabeth Medeiros and Fred Wood.

Diplomas and handshakes were presented by the members of the Board of Education, including President Elizabeth Meza, and Suzanne Dean, Connie Gilbert and Ana Vigil.

Salutatorian Layton led the graduates in shifting their tassels from the right side of their caps to the left, then the Class of 2014 was presented by Principal Young and accepted by Dr. Camp.

Following the recessional march, graduates mingled with friends and family at the rear of the gym for pictures, well wishes and celebration.
