Some administrative changes should be coming to the Riverbank Unified School District, in time for the 2014-15 school year that starts in August. The following provisional appointments, pending board approval, will take effect July 1, 2014.

Sean Richey, currently the principal of California Avenue Elementary School, is scheduled to be appointed to the position of principal at Riverbank High School.

“I appreciate Mr. Richey’s service to the California Avenue community over the last three years and look forward to his return to Riverbank High School, where he previously served as a vice principal,” stated Daryl Camp, Riverbank Unified School District Superintendent.

Kathy Briggs, previously the teacher-in-charge at Adelante High School, will be appointed to the position of principal at California Avenue Elementary School.

“I’m sure Mrs. Briggs will do well transitioning from the teacher-in-charge at Adelante High School to the principal at California Avenue,” added Camp. “She brings a wealth of experience in a number of areas to her position.”

The district is currently evaluating options for Adelante High School but has not yet made a decision how to fill Briggs’ post. The new principal appointments are expected to be approved by the board.

The next regular school board meeting will be Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 5:30 p.m.

The first day of school for Riverbank Unified School District will be Wednesday, Aug. 6.
