Several local schools, including Cardozo Middle School in Riverbank, and the Girl Scouts recently benefitted from the Make Dreams Real Endowment Fund, founded by Carl and Carole Boyett of Boyett Petroleum, and established in 2009. It was the intention of Mr. and Mrs. Boyett to establish the Make Dreams Real Endowment Fund to provide funding support for children’s programs in Stanislaus County and thousands of dollars has been provided this year for that purpose. The mission of the Make Dreams Real Endowment fund is making dreams real for school aged children in Stanislaus County through participation in programs that enrich and stimulate their minds and bodies and teach values through service learning. The service learning aspect of the grant award encourages and establishes a process of accountability and volunteerism in the community. Children that participate in the supported programs, and their families, are encouraged to volunteer within the program, fundraise and help with community events.

The Make Dreams Real Endowment Fund will award $80,000 by the end of the 2014 grant cycle, closing Sept. 15, 2014. At the completion of the current cycle, more than $280,000 will have been awarded. Make Dreams Real intends to distribute 10 percent of the fund’s balance each year in grant awards. The fund has a goal to reach $1 million by 2016. Funds are raised solely through the annual Make Dreams Real Golf Tournament. Boyett Petroleum underwrites the entire cost of the tournament so that every dollar received goes into the endowment fund with absolutely no deductions. This year’s golf tournament was on May 7 and has raised over $240,000 to date.

Part of the golf tournament fundraising is the Online Charity Sale from which supporters can purchase donated items to benefit the fund. There are a few items available for purchase online at: www.makedreamsrealgolf.com/sale, including select Levi Stadium Boyett Petroleum Luxury Suite tickets for the 49ers 2014 season. Information on next year’s fundraising tournament can be found online at www.makedreamsrealgolf.com.

The Make Dreams Real Advisory Board has awarded $44,000 during this grant cycle to the following programs in Stanislaus County: Society for Disabilities’ Adapted Bike Camp, Foothill Horizons Outdoor Education Camp funds for Cardozo Middle School as well as the Salida, Stanislaus and Empire Union School Districts, and the Girl Scouts Heart of Central California Outreach Program.

The Advisory Board has extended the grant application deadline to Sept. 15, 2014 with the intention of awarding an additional $36,000 in funding to meet the $80,000 goal for 2014. Organizations with programs that are aligned with the Make Dreams Real Endowment Fund mission, vision and grant guidelines are encouraged to apply.
