Riverbank Unified School District board members were scheduled to gather for a special meeting of the Board of Trustees on Tuesday, July 23 at 6 p.m., with the main item on the agenda to approve the hiring of a new principal for Riverbank High School. The meeting was scheduled after press time for The News but was expected to include approval of the new administrator following a closed session of the board. The meeting was also scheduled to include consideration of other certificated personnel new hires that are pending.

Former principal, Christine Facella of Riverbank High School accepted a position for an elementary school principal post for Modesto City Schools earlier this summer. This left the principal position open at the high school, and the appointment of a new principal planned on Tuesday night would allow time for the administrator to settle in prior to the start of the 2013-14 school year.

RUSD will be back in session on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
