Winter Homecoming 2014 officially started on Monday, Jan. 27; however the kickoff fashion show at lunch time in the quad on Friday, Jan. 24 got the energy going at Riverbank High School.

The leadership class under the direction of Christine Perez put together a fashion show to give the students an example of how to dress during Homecoming week, Jan. 27 through Jan. 31.

The sun was out and senior Eddie Guardado was playing the beats to commence the festivities on Friday. The King and Queen candidates were also announced during the lunch hour.

The following students have been nominated for Homecoming King: Freddie Capas, Daniel Palomino, Rolaun Dunham, Armando Vargas, and Reilly Nabors.

The Queen candidates are as follows: Mariah Saldivar, Brittany Cody, Kaitlin Jimenez, Maritza Lopez, and Mikayla Florez.

The theme for this year’s Homecoming is Disneyland and there will be lunchtime activities on each day.

On Monday, Jan. 27 the themed dress day was “Toon Town” which required you to dress up as a classic Disney character or wear red and black to show your spirit.

Tuesday, Jan. 28 took you on a fantasy with the themed day of “Fantasy Land” where students were asked to dress up as a fairytale character in royal attire or wear baby blue and gray.

Today, Wednesday, it is off to “New Orleans Square” and the theme is to dress like a pirate or to still show your spirit and wear white.

“Adventureland” is the themed day for Thursday, Jan. 30 where students are asked to wear their best explorer attire or sport brown and green apparel.

Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. there will be a Dodge Ball game held in the Bruin Gym between students and faculty along with the crowning of the King.

The themed dress day for Friday, Jan. 31 is “Bruin Pride” and students are asked to dress in the school’s spirit colors of maroon and silver.

There will be a mandatory rally in the Fauria Gym followed by the Homecoming basketball games against Escalon High School in the evening. The freshmen will begin play at 4:30 p.m., Junior Varsity starts at 6 p.m. and the final game will be the Varsity teams at 7:30 p.m.

At the Varsity game during halftime, the Homecoming Queen will be crowned, the winner of the decorating competition will be announced, and the Spirit Bear will be awarded to the class with the most spirit points.
