Elections On Council Agenda

The next Riverbank City Council elections will be on the agenda at the June 23 meeting when Riverbank will again contract with Stanislaus County to run the November elections.

Council meets regularly on the second and fourth Mondays of the month starting at 7 p.m. in chambers at 6707 Third St.

The three council seats up for grabs will be those of Mayor Chris Crifasi, Virginia Madueno and David I. White.

Crifasi is nearing the end of his first elected term as mayor. Madueno was appointed to fill a position vacated by Allen Trawick when he found taking a council seat would lose him retirement funds. White was appointed to take the seat left open by Kathy Anaya when she recently moved out of the city.

Council candidates can start taking out applications on July 14, said City Clerk Linda Abid Cummings.

The council is also due to adopt final budgets for both the city and the Riverbank Redevelopment Agency at the Monday night meeting.

Of the $15 million city budget, $7.5 million is allocated to the general fund, $1.9 million to the sewer enterprise fund and $1.7 million to the water enterprise fund, said Abid Cummings.

Council is due to approve final plans and specifications for the Teen Center, which is the last move before calling for bids to go into construction, hopefully by August, said Parks and Recreation Director Sue Fitzpatrick.
