Although the weather was blazing hot just a week ago and Autumn has not officially arrived, it is that time of year for Riverbank High School’s Fall Homecoming Week celebration. With the theme of “A Night at the Cinema” for the 2022-23 Bruin Homecoming, there are a variety of festivities throughout the week including dress days, lunchtime activities, a Powder Puff game, Homecoming parade, and the crowning of the King and Queen. Thankfully, temperatures this week have cooled off significantly from the triple digits seen earlier this month.

The votes are in and the candidates for King and Queen were announced this past Friday. The five King nominees are: Alan Gonzalez, Alexander Nisperos, Jeremiah Mangiapane, Ryder Williams, and Chad Haga. The five Queen candidates are: Alyssandra Urrea, Isabel Zamora, Janeiya Lopez, Dayanara Ruvalcaba, and Alexandra Valdez.

Students are encouraged to show their school spirit by participating in the specific dress days through the week. On Monday students wore blue or dressed like their favorite Disney character. Tuesday, students wore red or black or their favorite horror movie character. Adam Sandler dress day is Wednesday and Thursday students should wear green or bring anything except a backpack. Bruin Spirit Day will be held on Friday with the students wearing colors specific to their class like seniors wear black, juniors maroon, sophomores wear gray, and freshmen sport white.

There will be lunchtime activities during the week including Karaoke, a balloon toss, scavenger hunt, and corn hole.

The Powder Puff game will be held on Thursday night, Sept. 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Keeping the excitement flowing for Fall Homecoming and in RHS tradition, they will have a Homecoming Parade on Friday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. in downtown Riverbank.

Fall may bring many things to mind like cooler weather and falling leaves but for high schoolers everywhere it typically means Fall Homecoming Week with many traditions including the main event this Friday. The Bruins will take on the Lions of Valley Christian Academy from Roseville, on Friday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. and during halftime the King and Queen will be crowned.
