Local veterans who proudly served their country are continuing to serve in the local community as members of Oakdale Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2922.

The post provides scholarships to local high school students, presents the colors at Oakdale High football games and youth sporting events, works with and donates to nonprofit organizations like Stanislaus County Toys for Tots Foundation and Northern California Junior Rodeo Association, among others.

They are able to do this through their yearly fundraising efforts, with the majority of the funds coming from their annual Fourth of July fireworks booth in the Grocery Depot parking lot at1460 E. F St., Oakdale.

The hours of operation for the fireworks booth this year will be noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, June 28 and 29, and from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. starting on Monday, June 30 and continuing daily through the Fourth of July.
