With school now out for the summer, many families are facing additional food insecurity.
As they have for the past several years, local school officials will be helping facilitate a free summer meals program. The meals will be provided to local youngsters on a regular basis to help make sure their nutritional needs are being met.
California Avenue Elementary School will be the distribution site for the free meals program this summer. The food is offered to kids and teens 18-years-old and younger. Those who want to receive a meal can stop by California Avenue each day, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., for pick up.
Officials said each bag distributed will have a breakfast and lunch included. The summer meals program began on Monday, June 7 and will run through Friday, July 2.
