Throughout this month, Stanislaus Regional Transit Authority (StanRTA) invites riders to celebrate summer with Free Fares July, a full month of free rides across Stanislaus County. Whether riders are commuting, running errands, or exploring, they can hop on ‘The S’ and ride completely free; no pass needed. The transit promotion includes fare-free rides on: Local fixed-route service; ACE, BART, and Stockton Commuter express routes; ADA Paratransit; and Medivan.
All participating services in Stanislaus County meet ADA accessibility requirements to ensure inclusive transportation for all riders.
Free Fares July is part of a regional effort that also includes participation by the City of Turlock (Turlock Transit), making transit the easy choice no matter where riders are headed.
The free-ride campaign is funded through a grant from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) under the Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP), along with federal transit support.
“With the Free Fares July promotion, we’re proud to offer safe and reliable rides at no cost so residents can reach school, work, grocery stores, healthcare, shopping, and more without financial stress,” said Adam Barth, CEO of StanRTA. “Free Fares July makes public transit more accessible, and is the perfect chance for new riders to give The S a try and discover how easy, convenient, and sustainable public transit can be. We encourage everyone to take this opportunity to utilize the system to get around Stanislaus County.”
Riders are encouraged to plan ahead and take full advantage of this fare-free month. Trip planning can be done with tools available at www.stanrta.org and www.turlocktransit.com.
Or, use smartphone apps like the Transit app, Google Maps, or StanRTA’s Track The S app for route, stop, schedule and real-time bus arrival information (available for free through the Apple App Store and Google Play).
The Stanislaus Regional Transit Authority (StanRTA) is a joint powers agency whose members are the City of Modesto and the County of Stanislaus, and which was created to consolidate transit services countywide with the exception of the City of Turlock.
