Final October Forum On Election Districts
Vote

The last of three Election District forums this month is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Crossroads Elementary School Multipurpose Room, 5800 Saxon Way.

From 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., officials will be available to discuss possible district boundaries in town, with one council member elected from each. As proposed, the Mayor’s seat will continue to be voted at-large, by the entire city.

In an effort to comply with the California Voting Rights Act of 2001, the city is considering changing its electoral system. Officials are seeking suggestions, comments, concerns and a choice from the voting public on the most beneficial boundaries for the entire city.

Although not determined yet, it’s possible the matter could be on the ballot for a vote in 2016. It would take several election cycles to implement, as council seats come up for a vote.

Those with questions can contact City Clerk Annabelle Aguilar at 863-7198.
