Stanislaus Community Foundation (SCF), a charitable organization dedicated to stewarding charitable resources and building a more vibrant Stanislaus, recently shared the outcomes of another year of generosity throughout the community.
In 2023, Stanislaus Community Foundation provided 804 grants totaling just over $7 million in grants and scholarships to nonprofit organizations and schools. Over $329,500 in scholarships were awarded to 165 local students pursuing their dream of a higher education. Since its inception in 2002, Stanislaus Community Foundation has provided more than $49.4 million in grants and scholarships to the community.
“Our capacity to contribute to the community and address a wide spectrum of regional challenges is enabled by the generous backing of individuals who establish charitable funds with us,” stated Dave Olson, Chairman of the Board at Stanislaus Community Foundation. “They understand that combining our charitable resources maximizes the impact of these funds for the greater good.”
Key milestones in 2023
After a 10-month economic development sprint and the publication of the Stanislaus 2030 Investment Blueprint, Stanislaus Community Foundation incubated a new public-private partnership led by former SCF Chief Strategy Officer Amanda Hughes. Stanislaus 2030’s work focuses on expanding childcare access, bolstering the talent pipeline, and supporting small business development.
Also officially launched was Friends of the Foundation – a dynamic group of philanthropists committed to SCF’s leadership work and to solving the region’s most pressing issues.
Many of the SCF fundholders made major gifts to support the expansion of multiple nonprofits to Stanislaus County, including Digital NEST, HealthForce Partners, and GO Public Schools.
The foundation also funded innovative programs including a two-generation pilot program for single mothers to receive wrap-around services from Center for Human Services, as well as a “whatever it takes” outreach program provided by homeless advocates at SHARE (Stanislaus Homeless Advocacy and Resource Enterprise).
Fundholders also funded the creation of new spaces that improve the quality of life and vibrancy of the community with major gifts to the Modesto Children’s Museum, the Awesome Spot Playground, and Intermission, a cocktail lounge located next to the State Theatre.
